Guzaarish - Movie review

Guzaarish
U/A; Drama
Dir: Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Monikangana Dutta, and Shernaz Patel

Rating: 3/5

What it's about: Trust Sanjay Leela Bhansali to think out of the box even when he takes two superstars to play the lead roles in his film. His new offering, Guzaarish, doesn't aim to address the problems faced by paraplegics or promise to make their lives better, or to even make people sensitive to their problems. If you are hoping to see a film about all that, you would be disappointed because Bhansali's take is something else. This is the story of Ethan Mascarenhas (Roshan), once a famous magician who is now bedridden for the last 12 years, following a fatal accident on stage while performing. Sophia (Aishwarya), his caretaker, has devoted her entire life to taking care of him. Ethan hosts a show for a radio station from his bedroom, where he takes calls and helps people find solutions to their problems and fills their lives with hope and happiness. Then one day, out of the blue, he asks his lawyer Devyani Dutta (Shernaz Patel) to file a petition in court for mercy killing or as he calls it, 'Project Ethan-asia'. His nurse, lawyer and doctor (Suhel Seth) are all against this decision. His fight with the law and the people around him to let him have his way forms a large part of the film.

What's hot: For starters, Guzaarish is nothing like Bollywood fans have seen before. It's admirable because Bhansali treads the dangerous path by daring to make a film with his 'hero' fighting to die. The director's triumph lies in handling a sensitive subject with a lot of care and caution. Although the fear of death hovers over the entire film, the treatment isn't maudlin, so the film is neither grim nor depressing. It is a movie about conversation and simple observations. Ethan's character, with his irrepressible wit and dry humour, is endearing. Hrithik Roshan fits the role comfortably and adds his own nuances to it, making it larger than life in its own way. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan delivers a sincere performance but her character isn't consistent. What also works against her are her hairstyle and costumes. You just can't help constantly thinking that she is wearing clothes borrowed from Penelope Cruz in the film, Captain Corelli's Mandolin. Despite the inconsistencies, the best part of the film is the relationship between Ethan and Sophia. Their interactions with each other, the fights, arguments and the banter touch the right chords. In terms of setting, the film is spectacular -- the music and dialogues serve as perfect embellishments.

What's not: Here's a man who wants to die, who is so unhappy with his life that he is fighting to be allowed to die. But there is not one wet eye during the entire course of the film. Guzaarish is clever and relevant without being moving. It is bit too calculated to make the emotions really ring. Bhansali has ample scope to enhance his screenplay and spruce up the emotional quotient without getting melodramatic. The second half of the film is tiresome. The courtroom drama is dull and predictable. The track of the other jealous magician (Ash Chandler) is forced and unnecessary. Even the character of Omar Siddiqui (Aditya Roy Kapur) seems incomplete. Ethan's mother (Nafisa Ali), appearing out of nowhere, only to die 10 minutes later adds nothing to the story. Monikangana Dutta is wasted in two scenes, which are barely there. Makrand Despande is grossly miscast as Sophia's husband. Instead of an ensemble piece, Bhansali ends up making a film that is focused on just two characters.

What's that: Why is Ethan kissing his assistant/girlfriend while on stage? There is so much emphasis on him going out for the first time. He has the means and the help so why doesn't Ethan step out more often? And considering his physical condition, why is he housed on the top floor instead of the lower level in that big a house?

Top 10 Countries with high speed INTERNET connection

Top 10 Countries with high speed INTERNET connection

I am going to list down top 10 countries with high speed internet connection. “World is Small.. Internet has made it even more smaller”. We keep hearing that millions and billions of people are getting introduced to internet everyday, and millions more are becoming full time income earners over internet. But the ultimate question that enters everyone’s mind in this world is what are the top nation with the internet connection. Its not necessary that a country has to be rich in order to be the top 1 place holder among the list of top 10 countries with high speed internet connection.

Here is the top 10 internet with regard to High speed internet connection.

10. Norway

Norway ranks tenth position in the top 10 countries with high speed internet connection with a speed of 4.5 Mbps which is the average speed. The country ranks fifth in terms of high broadband connectivity with 38 per cent of the connection above 5 Mbps.

9. Slovakia

Slovakia bags the ninth position among the top 10 countries with high speed internet connection with a speed of 4.5 Mbps . This speed happens to be the average internet connection speed in Slovakia. The country does not figure among the top ten in terms of high broadband connectivity.

8. Belgium

Belgium is at the 8th position with an Internet connection speed with a speed of 4.7 Mbps average. The country ranks sixth in terms of high broadband connectivity with 31 per cent of the connection above 5 Mbps. Although Hong Kong happens to be a part of China, this would average the Hong Kong’s internet speed to a very lower value if coupled with China’s. So let it stand alone.

2. Japan

Japan ranks 2nd in terms of Internet connection and high broadband connectivity. Japan ranks 2nd in terms of high broadband connectivity. About 54 per cent of the connections in Japan are above 7 Mbps. The small land occupies the 2nd position in the top 10 countries with high speed internet connection.

1. South Korea

South Korea rules supreme when it comes to Internet connection speed and broadband connectivity.

It is the world’s No.1 with average connection speed of 15 Mbps, ten times the global average! and it is surely to stand first among the top 10 countries with high speed internet connection.

During 2008, South Korea’s rate of quarterly change appeared to be locked into a cyclical pattern, with quarterly decreases being recorded in the first and third quarters, and increases seen in the second and fourth quarters.

For the whole year, South Korea saw a modest 7 per cent rise in their levels of high broadband adoption. South Korea is also ranked first in terms of high broadband connectivity with 69 per cent connections above 5 Mpbs.

South Korea, Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway had more high broadband IP’s per capita than in the prior quarter. This is consistent with what would be expected from the initiatives to bring higher speed connectivity, including fibre to the home (FTTH) efforts, to consumers in these countries.

Review : Kalyanram’s KATHI (2010)

Starring: Kalyan Ram, Sana Khan, Shyam, Saranya Mohan, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Dharmavarapu, Brahmanandam, Venu Madhav, Chandra Mohan, Ajay and others
Story: Vakkantam Vamsi
Dialogs: M. Ratnam
Music: Mani Sharma
Cinematography: Sarvesh Murari
Fights: Ram Lakshman
Producer: Nandamuri Kalyanram
Watched at : Shivani,Dilshuknagar
Story:

A passable tale, the story begins with Ramakrishna (kalyanram) whose aim is to get into the national football team. He has a huge family which dotes on him and among them, he dotes on his sister Haritha (saranya mohan). He keeps protecting her at all times and the time comes when he has to go to the selections. Meanwhile, Haritha goes missing and the family members convince Ramakrishna that she will be back. However, he discovers Haritha being chased by few goons and they are led by Mohan Krishna (shaam). What happened to Haritha? Why was she chased? What does Ramakrishna do this time? Is the remaining story.
Presentation:

Kalyanram did well in his role.Sana Khan is quite good in her limited role. Shyam,Sharanya,Kota were decent in their roles.Ajay, telangana Shakuntala, Brahmi, Dharmavarapu, Chandramohan, Sameer, Venu Madhav were wasted.
Mani Sharma disappointed with the songs but later picks up with background music where he manages to retain the suspense and tension of a taut thriller. The dialogues by M Ratnam were okay, the script by Vakkantam Vamsi was predictable, and the screenplay was regular. Production Values by N.T.R arts were good. Sarvesh Murari (Cinematography) was at his best. Action scenes too were not properly choreographed. Direction by Mallikarjun was biggest drawback for the movie.
Overall:

First half just passes on while the second half gets into tackling the clods. Overall, Not Even Single Point was entertaining nor interesting, worth skipping.

Review:::The Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows

Story:
The Order of the Phoenix separate out, using magic so that several of them can impersonate Harry Potter and mislead Lord Voldemort’s followers as they attempt to kill Harry. Harry, Hermione and Ron each receive a bequest in Professor Dumbledore’s will and believe these contain clues to the locations of the horcruxes. As they gather to celebrate Bill Weasley’s wedding, they learn that Lord Voldemort’s forces have overthrown the Ministry of Magic. Forced to go on the run, Harry, Ron and Hermione adopt disguises to break into the Ministry of Magic and steal back the real locket horcrux that has been taken by Dolores Umbridge. Escaping into the wilderness, they try to find a means of destroying it. They are forced to take turns wearing the horcrux but doing so brings out all that is dark and negative in them. This causes Ron to leave, jealous of the closeness between Harry and Hermione. Together, they realize that they need to find the Sword of Gryffindor in order to destroy the locket.
Performance:
The film looks at an immaculate, the special effects are again better than last time and the production to perfection care.House elf Dobby (voiced by Toby Jones) steals the show, the actors remain predominantly the background to the three young actors to thrive to shine.Daniel Radcliffe is clearly willing and able to take Harry to deeper, darker places. Eduardo Serra’s cinematography is beautiful and the music by Alexandre Desplat, who took over the baton of John Williams. The score is different, but effective and gives a unique atmosphere to the movie. All the ‘preconditions’ are therefore perfectly fine.Rupert Grint displays sparks of brilliance but is frustratingly dumbed down by Yates. Emma Watson, a super star in the making, mercifully keeps her eyebrows under control. That this is a tad disappointing first part has to do with the slow, almost dragging middle part of the movie. Screenwriter Steve Kloves and editor Mark Day had quite some here may be critical because there could easily half hours can be omitted for the same effect. These scenes therefore not justify that two films had to be the seventh book of JK Rowling – at least not from a literary perspective.
verdict
Every minute of Deathly Hallows, brings us one step closer to the ultimate battle the ultimate evil with no nose. Until then, we have little time to practice all spells learned, gnefontas conspiratorial among us..
Disappointing dearth of cinematic magic. The fireworks have yet to be lit.
